How much will my cake cost?
This is a difficult question to answer as each cake is quoted for on an individual basis depending on the style and design required, but the starting guide below may help. These prices are for a plain iced round cake with satin ribbon, minimal decoration and an undercoat of chocolate ganache. My cake tiers are a minimum of 5” deep, each with 4 layers of cake and 3 layers of filling.

Additional figures and animals are quoted on request.
How do I order a cake?
I offer a complimentary, no obligation design and tasting consultation for potential wedding cake clients. This is our opportunity to meet properly, for you to see my display cakes & portfolio and fully discuss your requirements; you will be given a bag of taste samples to take home and try at your leisure. Following a consultation I send an accurate quote & sketch with all the options we discussed, this is valid for 14 days. Bookings are accepted and confirmed on receipt of a non-refundable £100 deposit and return of a signed quote.
I am unable to offer face to face consultations for celebration cakes but will happily discuss your requirements over email or telephone and provide an accurate quote for you. Bookings are accepted and confirmed on receipt of a non-refundable £25 deposit for orders under £150; £50 deposit for orders over £150.
Please contact me by telephone, email or Facebook for further information or to make an appointment.
How much notice do you need?
As I take a limited number of orders I would have to advise that you book earlier rather than later, generally 6 months+ before a wedding, but I often take a booking 12 months or more beforehand. I recommend at least 1 month before a birthday, Christening or other celebration. Of course if you do have a late enquiry please still contact me, I will do my very best to try and accommodate you but cannot guarantee it.
Do you deliver?
I offer & recommend delivery and set-up at your venue for all wedding cakes; I will liaise directly with the wedding venue to ensure this is a smooth process and provide written instructions for cutting and care (including after care for any toppers). I also provide appropriate cake boxes for any leftover cake and toppers. Delivery is charged at £25 for venues within a 15 mile radius of Walton on Thames, I individually quote for venues further afield at 75p/mile thereafter; Central London venues may have additional charges. Delivery and set-up is free to those venues who recommend Cakes & Drapes.
Celebration cakes are for collection only apart from exceptional circumstances.
What flavours do you offer?

Yes, the good news is that most designs can have a different flavour in each tier so you can keep everyone happy.
Do you cater for Dietary requirements?
As I create my cakes in a domestic environment I cannot guarantee against cross contamination or cater for clients with allergies. I do however offer gluten and dairy free options for those who prefer not to eat them.
How do I pay for my cake?
The balance of payment is required for Wedding cakes 1 month prior to your wedding by bank transfer or cash.
The balance for Celebration cakes is by bank transfer before or cash on collection.
Please see T&C’s for further details.
Can you make a cake I’ve seen elsewhere?
Out of respect for other artists work I will not make a direct copy of another cake without the original designers express permission. I encourage you to share your inspiration pictures, colours, themes and crazy ideas to see what styles you like; this allows me to create a cake that is unique for your wedding or celebration.
Can I save money by having dummy tiers?
Sadly no, this is misinformation often given in wedding magazines when suggesting ways to reduce your budget. Relatively little of the overall cost is the actual cake on the inside, the vast majority is in the covering and decoration in terms of both ingredients and time; these are the same on dummy tiers as they are on real. Dummy tiers are however a good idea if you want a larger cake than the portions you require or a design that may include non-edible elements; I’m happy to discuss all options at a consultation.
Can I see my cake before my wedding?
No I’m afraid not, your cake is made to be at its absolute best for your wedding day which often means it is not finished until late the day before. If time and light allows I may be able to send you a sneaky peek picture of a small part, but most clients prefer to see their creation in all its glory once set up and part of the overall wedding.
Do you freeze your cakes?
No, every cake is baked fresh to order so that it is perfect for your event, consequently you have the option of freezing any leftovers should you choose to. I will advise accordingly at a consultation and provide written instructions on request.
Can I have fresh flowers on my cake?
Whilst I prefer to work with sugar flowers I appreciate that fresh flowers can look very lovely and are popular with some couples. Please bear in mind however that flowers must be prepared and applied in a food safe manner; some popular wedding flowers are toxic, they not safe to consume or even touch your cake. Should you chose to fresh flowers after fully discussing the issues involved, I ask you to order blooms from your florist for me to use. More complicated arrangements are best done by your florist and it is then their responsibility to determine flower safety and safe food practices
What happens if I need to cancel a cake?
All deposits are non-refundable, for full terms please refer to T&C’s.
All requests for cancellation must be made in writing or by e-mail. In the event that your wedding cake has had to be re-scheduled please contact me to discuss options. Communication is important and I will work hard to try to accommodate you and transfer your booking to an alternative date if I have availability.
